Math

By Gillian Hamsher

The numbers are scattered and confusing.
My brain can’t think. I don’t understand it.
Fractions are spinning, it’s not amusing.
And a word problem makes me want to split.

Some of that algebra we’ll never need.
So, why do they teach it, just to abuse?
I have a timed test but I don’t have speed.
Ohh, I think I’m going to have the blues.

The book is heavy, my arms might fall off.
Bringing it home is a burden to me.
Although the book cover is very soft.
When there is no homework I am set free.

Math continues to build my endurance.
Helping me grow, I’ll have an insurance.
